Is Buddy press a good social networking tool for making a bloggers community?

I want to create my own bloggers community and buddy press seems like it could be fun and easy to use. Do you think it would be a good to use?

Many people tell me that its great but personally when I used it I didn’t like it. If you’re going to use it you need to have good knowledge of wordpress and extentions you can add to your buddypress.

If you have good knowledge of it you can make it work like as you want but default system in it is pretty bad for a normal user.
